It occurs especially in older adults, in which case it is called&nbsp;<i>age-related macular degeneration<\/i>. &nbsp;link to AAO.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aao.org\/eye-health\/diseases\/amd-macular-degeneration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Diabetic Retinopathy<\/h2>\n<p>Diabetic Retinopathy is a&nbsp;<b>diabetes<\/b>&nbsp;complication that affects eyes. It&#8217;s caused by damage to the blood vessels of the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye (retina). At first,&nbsp;<b>diabetic retinopathy<\/b>&nbsp;may cause no symptoms or only mild vision problems.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aao.org\/eye-health\/diseases\/what-is-diabetic-retinopathy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Retinal Detachment<\/h2>\n<p>Retinal Detachment is a disorder of the eye in which the&nbsp;<b>retina<\/b>&nbsp;separates from the layer underneath. Symptoms include an increase in the number of floaters, flashes of light, and worsening of the outer part of the visual field. &#8230; Without treatment permanent loss of vision may occur.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aao.org\/eye-health\/diseases\/detached-torn-retina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Macular Holes<\/h2>\n<p>Macular Holes is a small break in the&nbsp;<b>macula<\/b>, located in the center of the eye&#8217;s light-sensitive tissue called the retina. The&nbsp;<b>macula<\/b>&nbsp;provides the sharp, central vision we need for reading, driving, and seeing fine detail. A&nbsp;<b>macular hole<\/b>&nbsp;can cause blurred and distorted central vision.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aao.org\/eye-health\/diseases\/what-is-macular-hole\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Epiretinal Membrane<\/h2>\n<p>Epiretinal Membrane is a disease of the eye in response to changes in the vitreous humor or more rarely, diabetes. It is also called macular pucker.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aao.org\/eye-health\/diseases\/what-is-macular-pucker\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Macular Edema<\/h2>\n<p>Macular Edema is swelling of the retina in diabetes mellitus due to leaking of fluid from blood vessels within the&nbsp;<b>macula<\/b>.
